Welcome to my doctoral student advising page.   The information contained in this page is my own.  I'm providing my opinions based on my experience as a doctoral student, minor professor, committee member and major professor.  On the other hand, most of the advising documents that you will find on my web site have been widely adopted within the program, department and college.

For over a decade, I have spent a tremendous amount of time creating a structured process for doctoral students.  I graduated with my doctorate from Penn State University in 1994 and, as a student, found that doctoral programs are inherently vague.

I'm on a long mission to make the doctoral program easier to navigate.   It's not a simple mission - but I hope that I can make it simpler.

I hope this section of the site useful to you.
Additionally, I hope it will
help you better negotiate the doctoral process.
