Philosophy of Faculty Scholarship


Balance, integration, and theory-to-practice guide my approach to faculty scholarship.  Balance provides an understanding that research, teaching, nor service scholarship should be individually consuming factors of a faculty member’s workload.  Integration of research provides students in the university classroom first-hand experience with reading, interpreting, and creating new theories and practices that guide their field of study. Theory-to-practice provides opportunities to translate the “ivory tower” theories of the university classroom into the everyday practices of the corporate and educational work environments.
